Welcome Home?

Today, my boyfriend, Jimbo, our bestfriend Steph and I visited a local abandoned building called Fullers Earth Works. I will upload my photographs once I've edited them, but I couldn't resist putting one of Jimbo's photographs on my blog for you all to see. He has just edited it and given me permission to show you. As soon as I saw it, my breath was honestly taken away. It has so much depth and emotion in it.

He has aptly named it: 'Welcome Home?'

This really struck a chord with me. Check out Jimbo's Tumblr for his other photography here:

Shes done things I'd never expected.

Guys, I've found another great eBay deal I just HAD to share with you! If you've been reading my blog since the start, you will have read my post on the Jeffrey Cambell Litas back when they were big news on the social network scene.

I'd been lusting after a pair for ages but couldn't ever justify 120 smackers on a pair of shoes. Even a pair as beautiful as Litas. Then, I stumbled across this ebay seller.  She sells many great dupes of various styles but my favourites had to be the Vogue Women's Round Toe Cuban Heels.  Dead ringers for Jeffrey Cambell Lita's and a STEAL at £21!

They come in three different colours: Black, Brown and a Taupe colour (my personal favourite). However the seller also has a black studded pair and a glittery pair in her listed items!

Such a good dupe!

DIY Tinted Lipbalm.

So after taking part in my survey (you guys are so good to me!) I concluded you'd like some more crafty/DIY posts. So from January I will be doing a crafty post each month as a new feature here on The-Cameras-Lying. This right here is the pilot run to see what kind of reactions I get. Be honest in your comments please. I'd love feedback on the clarity of my instructions and images and how much you like the idea!

So here we go:

DIY Tinted Lipbalm

Difficulty Rating: * (anyone can do this!)
Time taken: Prep: 5 minutes, cooling time: 1 hour.

What will I need?

  1. One old or broken lipstick
  2. A pot of Vaseline
  3. One empty pot (for storing the Lipbalm in)
  4. One large metal serving spoon or metal ladle
  5. One knife
  6. One teaspoon
  7. One cocktail stick (for stirring)
Picture this: You are putting on your fave shade of lippy when you feel it snap against your lips. Or, perhaps you knock it off your dresser whist doing your hair and it chips. Day ruined? We've all been there. But, with this tutorial you can turn your mangled lippy into a fabulous tinted lipbalm- great for the winter months! Its super easy to do too!

I decided to use the above lipstick as I find it far too drying in the lipstick form it is now, but I liked the colour too much to throw it out!

I chose this small tin as my Gran brought it back from India for me years ago and I haven't found a use for it yet. I love the colours of it but small plastic sample tubs work perfectly too.

Step 1: Slice your lipstick off onto the (clean) serving spoon:

Step 2:  Add the same amount of Vaseline to your serving spoon.

Step 3:  Light a hob on your cooker and hold your serving spoon 30cm away from the flame. Heat until melted.

Step 4: Away from the flames, stir until combined.

Step 5: Pour mixture into your pot.

Step 6:  Pop in the fridge until set (about 30 minutes).

Finally: Take out and enjoy!

Will you be making some tinted lipbalm?

Lets delay our misery.

Yesterday's outfit was largely planned around my new silver cross necklace and how I could make a feature of it. I settled, eventually, on layering it with my silver vintage chain and my simple black silk top. To avoid wearing too much black I put on my green Zara skirt for a pop of colour and my Deborah Lippmann nail polish in 'Razzle Dazzle.'

Although I spent the day round my boyfriends house, I still get cold so easily, so to ward of goose pimples I stuck some knee highs over my tights. I love doing this as it makes a feature of otherwise plain tights and also keeps out the cold. I paired this look with some simple black boots from Clarks.

Thank you for everyone who did my survey. There was popular demand for more outfit and photography posts as well as an interest in craft posts which I will definitely be looking into some ideas for you. Perhaps a monthly craft feature?

Everyone enjoying the count down to Christmas?

I'm the ghost in the back of your head.

Cross necklaces are everywhere at the moment. They are a timeless accessory and can give any simple outfit a kick. I've been lusting after one for sometime now and eventually I stumbled across (aha aCROSS, get it?...) one on my favourite website- eBay.

But, before I reveal my new favourite thing to you, I'd like to share some of the images which inspired me:

Crucifijos de los Rosarios

(All images link back to the original owners).

Now for my offering:

I paid just £1.74 for this and you can get it too, here! I'll be wearing this baby like its going out of fashion, thats for sure!

6 sleeps till Christmas!
