Lets Talk About: The Truth About Spring.

As the weather begins to warm up and we start to think of the looming transition, head first into Spring, I have one thing on my mind. Shedding the layers. Goodbye scarves, ear muffs and fluffy socks, until next time!

However, with the clothing transition comes an unwelcome addition to women's daily lives- yes, I am talking about the return of the honks from the mysterious men in their vans.

You know the drill, you are casually walking down to the bus stop, donning a floaty midi skirt and camisole paired with a cute cardigan and some sunglasses. You are just enjoying the sun, not a care in the world, when suddenly a crud, loud beep fills the air. Turning in horror, you watch as a van streaks past and the driver leans out the window 'alright darrrrlin' *leering at chest area.* For me, this kind of encounter usually results in a pop of colour in my cheeks and I will spend the rest of my day tugging, self consciously at my cardigan/skirt hem.

It seems to me, that as soon as girls hit puberty they become targets for this kind of road side attention. So is this wrong? Or simply a laugh?

For me its humiliating and makes me feel like some sort of object for others entertainment. However, on the flip side, a friend once said- 'its annoying, but once its gone, you'll wonder if there is something wrong with you.' True, but wouldn't it be better if women weren't subjected to this treatment in the first place?

It highlights the difference between men and women, in my mind and shows how so men still feel they hold a superior position to women.

It doesn't end at honking and leering, I've seen girls have dirty/disgusting things yelled at them from the windows of vans speeding by, there is no need. Especially not when the girls that are being targeted are still at high school. Its bordering on ridiculous!

So what are your opinions? Should we begin reporting men the vans to their companies when we are targeted or is it simply men appreciating the small things in life? I'd love to hear your opinions, so leave them in the comment section below!

I want to go to the seaside.

After seeing Fiona's latest post on her fabulous blog Sugar For My Honey, I've been lusting after the seaside. I live about a 45 minute train journey away from the sea side town of Brighton, which is where the photos below where taken. I'm not a winter fan so I can't wait for it to warm up a bit so I can get my photographer on down by the sea! I took these photos over a number of different times I've been been to Brighton. Click the photograph to take you to its place on my Flickr.

I'll let the photographs do the talking now.

A pulse your pulse.

So I've been a bit naughty recently. I think all the revision plus lack of social life has lead to my online shopping habit becoming an addiction. I keep picking up 'little things.' It seems the little things really do add up! However, I have managed to save all the money for my ski trip so I haven't had to substitute that for my consumer ways. Yet.

I thought I would share with you some cute pieces I have acquired of late.

I bought this 'Mini Skulls Necklace' from Kukee's online sale for a mere £3.59. I really loved how delicate it looked but how the skulls give the design a bit of a kick. I thought it may look good peeking out from under a collar? I love Kukee's jewelry selection, so I recommend you all check them out! They have the most kitsch selection of rings ever all at brilliant prices (plus free UK shipping!). Go figure!

This ring was a cheapy off eBay, Its subtle and pretty but I think it looks very nice layered with other rings too. I can't remember how much I paid for this, but it wasn't much. I love you eBay. My nail polish is Leighton Denny in 'Hanky Panky.'

Lastly, I came across a large bin of cosmetics in my local Sainsbury's priced at just £1.50 each. I was in there like a rocket and found these two Max factor lipsticks in 'Maple' and 'Sugared Pearl.' They are pretty day time colours with a shimmery finish, perfect for college. They are a tiny bit drying, but for £1.50 you can't argue too much!

Have you lovely people bought anything recently? Link me up to all your haul posts/videos, I love havinga nose around.

Make you feel my love.

Let me first set the scene: I've been revising solidly for my exams for a while now. Today was my Psychology re-take which I work hard for to get it over and done with once and for all. However, when I awoke this morning, my eye was inflamed and itchy. Having woken up late I rushed about the house getting ready, ignoring the niggling pain. When I got to college I decided the best plan would be to remove my contact lens to stop the searing, thinking something had gotten stuck under there. Unfortunately, upon removing my contact, it became apparent that whatever was stuck under my lens was long gone and the pain was coming from a hairline scratch across my eyeball. My eye started to swell up and soon it was difficult to open it.

In pain, my Mum put an eye patch over my eye to let it rest and this helped a little bit. However as 11am neared the pain only increased so my Mum took me to our local hospital. After a long wait we were told there was nothing they could do for me. By this time I was already late for my exam and in a bit of a state. Tired, in pain and wearing an eye patch over one eye, I could only hope I hadn't ruined my chances for a good grade. My college kindly offered me extra time to do my exam and allowed me in late, however the sunlight in the exam room made my eye sting even under the compress and although I had chemist bought drops to put on it, nothing was going to make it less painful instantly. I found it hard to concentrate and write but somehow, I got through.

You can't imagine how grateful I was, when, as I got home after a long, hard day I saw a parcel waiting for me from the lovely Stacie. I won her recent giveaway and was OVER THE MOON with the goodies I received from her lovely etsy shop.

Thank you so much Stacie, you totally made my day so much better!

Sorry for the wordy post, I had a lot to say!
