A year in outfit posts 2012

This post is my first of the 'hey guys, its a new year' posts and probably the one that will take me the longest to edit. Loads of people have done the 'my year in outfits' post but when I came to write mine, I had major issues choosing one outfit from each month. So I called in back up in the form of my boyfriend, Jimbo. He was kind enough to dust of The Camera's Lying archives to chose one outfit from each month -his fave- for this post. Which is your favourite?

You can't beat a cuppa in a crisis

I've done a youtube video on the subject, and now its the blogs turn. No, I'm not explicitly talking about cuos of tea- I'm talking about what I got for Christmas this year. (It just so happens I got a lot of tea related paraphernalia  tea addicts anonymous here I come).

I got some truly amazing gifts this year, all so thoughtful and 'me.' From the big to the small I loved every item and I'm actually writing this post on my new Kindle Fire, a present from my parents. I'd like to thank anyone who got me a gift or sent me a card this year- I'm so grateful. I also hope everyone I bought a present for, enjoyed it as much as I have mine.

I really wanted to do one of these posts for a few reasons. The first being that some of my readers don't watch my youtube channel and so tend to miss 'haul' type posts from me, secondly because I've enjoyed reading everyone elses 'what I got for Christmas' posts. But thirdly, and perhaps most importantly, because I just can't let go of Christmas, just yet. I know its New Years eve tomorrow (or today, depending on what time I finish editing this post!) but I just don't want to let go of the season to be jolly.

I'd also like to say sorry for the awful quality this video is (most of the objects are in focus, my face? Not so much). How hilarious/awkward/annoying that the one video I say 'hey guys I'm filming in HD' is also the one video I don't focus my camera properly? Dang it! Enjoy anyway and happy new year!

And in the winter night sky ships are sailing

Disco Pants: River Island
Shoes: Dorothy Perkins
Shirt: New Look
Leather Jacket: Primark
Scarf: Unknown- Gift

So guess who is posting another outfit post? Moi! Today's quality isn't as good as little old perfectionist here would have liked but DARN this impossibly dark winter for that! Today is the post Christmas 'tidy up and recover day.' So I got up and dressed and did some work for my youtube channel and filmed a video (more on that soon) and now I'm here blogging. Productivity at its best, lads.

I also wanted to quickly point out my nails- Mermaid's Dream by Deborah Lippmann which is basically everything I love in a nail polish. Turquoise tones, shimmer, glitter and a fantastic name. I don't ever want to take it off! Big shout out to Santa for leaving that in my stocking. He's a clever chap.

Merry Christmas

Jumper: Next
Skirt: Vintage
Boots: Barrats
Ring: Avon
Bag: Accessorize
Hi, er, perhaps I should introduce myself? I've been gone a while and for that I apologise. However, I have a valid excuse- I had a tonsillectomy (removal of the tonsils) and my GOSH was it painful. I was in so much pain last week, that I was ready to join a convent and become a nun in the hope that pledging myself to God might deliver me from the evil that is tonsilectomy. Fortunately, however, I recovered enough to eat Christmas dinner and enjoy the festivities.

I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas too? Tell me what you got up to! This is what I wore for the day. I love wearing gold and red around this time of year and the stars on this skirt just screamed 'Christmas' at me. My family like to look nice on the day, but we tend not to go all out. Can't be taking those Christmas games seriously in a skin tight dress and skyscraper heels, now can we?

The Search For Belle's Dress #1

Flash back to 1991 when Disney came out with their version of the classic fairytale of a beauty who is captured by a beast. Eventually the pair fall in love and the beast is transformed into a human. The story is an endearing tale of selflessness and love beyond beauty. It captured my heart.

As a young girl, my dream was somewhat different to other young girls. All I wanted to do was 'dance with the beast' yes, in the yellow dress. My life became focused around the story and its characters. It even began my love affair with France! My Dad made a giant cardboard card with me dancing with the beast (he drew it, it was incredible!) which I still have to this day, whilst my Mum made me a Belle cake, in the yellow dress, of course.

I had figurines, dress up dresses, books and the VHS of the story but I still wasn't satisfied. I wanted the dress, the fairytale and the happily ever after.

Disney and illustrations made the dress a thing of wonder and beauty- but I have yet to see it translated in real life in such a majestic way. It always looks like a giant cake, a fancy dress outfit or just plain tacky.

So I'm on a search for the perfect, real life Belle dress. In these posts you'll see inspiration photo montages, colour swatches, illustrations (mine and others) and of course, dresses emulating the famous ball gown.
Whatever it takes, I will find the perfect 'Belle' dress.

Now, he left a hole in my heart

Two days naughty break from blogmas! *Slaps wrist* Unfortunately I was inundated with assessments before the end of term on Friday! As of 1pm tomorrow, however, I will be free (and of course Christmas will have officially begun).

Jumper: H&M (mens)
Shoes: Carvela Kurt Geiger
Necklace/collar: New Look

Let us first address how gorgeous this collar is! Its currently for sale in New Look for just £9.99 and their jewellery is on a buy one get one free deal, so you can't go wrong. I love the teal tones on this collar and its a great, stylish way to jazz up a plain jumper!

Love Heart Cut Out Dress

I recently entered another blogging/youtubing Amy's giveaway on her blog to win this cut out, heart shaped dress you see below. However, Amy's blog is really popular and there were a lot of entries on the giveaway so I thought no more of it. Until I received a tweet from the gorgeous girl herself telling me I'd one the dress. So firstly, a massive thank you to Amy.

Fashion Culprit Dress
Above is the beautiful article which arrived a few days ago. I haven't yet worn it out yet as I'm tempted to save it for Christmas day, but it fits so well and the material is so so soft. Another great feature I love about the dress is its thickness, its a really durable, plush material which is definitely winter party appropriate. And come on, how cut is the heart cut out on the back?!

I can't wait to style up this bad boy.

Gift Guide: Stocking Fillers for Teen Girls

Hello again! Today's blogmas post is another gift guide, however, this one was actually requested- its a stocking stuffers for teenage girls posts. I thought it might be useful for anyone googling teenage girls gift ideas (or any teen bloggers out there- wishlists at the ready ladies!) because having been both a teenager and a girl (yes, really) I know what an awkward period that can be.

After hearing just about every American beauty youtuber go on about how good and yummy smelling the Bath and Body Works hand sanitisers are, I'm so so glad we can finally get them in England. I chose to put the Vanilla Bean Noel scent in my image but I posted a generic link too all the scents as I had a hard time picking which to choose! They have so many festive ones and others that sound good enough to eat.

Amy's Guide to Christmas Shopping

Christmas shopping can be stressful, hard and expensive. To avoid stress headaches, tearing your hair out and complete, snowman style, meltdowns- I thought I would document my tips for calm, Christmas shopping.

Be Productive
Write a list of everyone you need to buy for and the items you want to buy them. This way you can know exactly which shops and which areas of shops you need to head to. This way you are much less likely to be distracted wandering around, looking at things for yourself and wasting time! Tut tut.

Work Out Your Budget

Set a budget, and stick to it. If you are running low on money and you still have a few people left to buy for you can alter your list slightly to fit this. For example: does your second cousin twice removed really need headphones that expensive? Perhaps you could go for the next price level down and put the money you saved towards another, more important area.

Wear comfortable clothing. I'm talking flat shoes, warm coat and loose fitting jeans etc. You don't want to be wandering around a ball of stress because your shoes hurt and your jeans are too tight and you are cold or too hot.

Go early in the morning *le gasp* I know, I know, its going to be painful. But trust me, worth it in the long run. If you get to the shops as they are opening, everything will be tidy, there will be smaller ques and less of a nightmare maneuvering around the aisles.

Don't Forget The Essentials
If you need scissors, sellotape, wrapping paper or cards, don't forget to buy these on your shopping trip. There is nothing worse than realising you remembered everything except gift tags!

Give Yourself A Break
If you can, give yourself a whole day to get the Christmas shopping done and dusted, this way if you begin to feel stressed you'll be able to go for a quiet sit down in Starbucks (eggnog latte please!) to regain much needed energy.

Choose wisely. Make sure its within a distance you feel comfortable travelling too- especially if you are going on the train or bus. Its also a good idea to check what shops an area or center has online, before going there. There is nothing worse than going shopping and realising the center you've gone to doesn't have a shop to get that really, really specific type of body lotion you need to bye your Nan.

I hope these ideas have been helpful to you! I'm going to *try* to do blogmas this year- blogging the 24 days in the run up to Christmas, but I'm not going to promise anything. Here's to trying.
