Review: The Blogger Programme Halloween Party

Halloween is one of my favourite traditions. Okay, so I'm not American, but its the only thing other than Bonfire night and Christmas that I like about the dark, colder months. It also means I get to crack out all my makeup and create some crazy things. So, when The Blogger Programme invited me to a virtual Halloween party, the answer was of course, yes please! The idea is this: The Blogger Programme and some of their clients send me and few other lucky bloggers a Halloween themed bag of goodies and we all blog/tweet/instagram about them, in a fun, online party kind of deal. Sounds. Awesome.

My bag came with jewellery from Grimoire and Siren London, a skull themed shirt from Miss Rebel and an awesome 'Zombie Outbreak Response Team' tee from Belts, Buckles, Tees. Other brands who had helped fill the bag were- Flash Mob Cosmetics and House Of Wonderland. The bag also contained everything one would need for a Halloween party (even if its a party for one) with cute decorations, sweets and pumpkin candles!
Here I am, posing with my 'TBP Approved Blogger' sign in my Zombie tshirt. If you'd like to join the online party, then I, and all the other bloggers involved with be posting, tweeting and instagramming all day using the hashtag '#TBPTrickOrTreat.' Be sure to follow me on Twitter and Instagram (@heyamyjane) to get involved!

Thank you to The Blogger Programme for my party bag!

Event: Cosmopolitan Blog Awards 2014

Its taken me an embarrassingly long time to blog about the Cosmo Blog Awards 2014, and for that, I apologise. However, I have written a university essay, daily vlogged and started a new column called 'The Style Slice' for TenEighty Magazine. Am I forgiven yet? Okay, good.
This year, I attended the Cosmo Blog Awards with two shortlists under my belt ('Best VLOG' and 'Best Established Fashion Blog') I was excited, as Cosmo know how to throw a party, and pretty relaxed as I was having my hair and makeup done by the fab people at Remington. It was fab not to have to worry about hair and makeup malarkey myself, and getting ready with lots of blogger friends and glass of bubbly is a good time, in and of itself!
Here is Hannah, getting her makeup touched up.
The event was held in the OXO tower, in London, which meant we were treated to fantastic views whilst we drank, danced and got snap happy with Thomson holidays, tropical inspired photobooth. Bloggers love a good photo opportunity.
Megan and I getting our 'great white shark on shark week' on
As is always the way with Cosmo blog awards, the awards were only half the fun, with cupcake decorating, hair and makeup touch ups from MUA and Remington and lash applications from The London Dolls. There was also the photo booth, a DJ and of course, Cosmpolitans (in magazine and alcoholic form).
This year I failed to place in the awards, but massive props and congratulations to those in my categories and all the others who did! All well deserved.
Crop Top: H&M
Skirt: Miss Selfridge
Shoes: Primark
Clutch: *Michael Kors
Necklace: Unknown (gift)
I was super pleased with my outfit this year, a lace and floral power combo that made me feel confident. It was a fairly cheap outfit, too, nearly all high street and the skirt was even on sale!

A big thank you has to go to Cosmo and the team for putting on a fab event, all the sponsors who filled the goody bag and of course, to you guys, for voting for me. I love you all!

Luna Cinema With Benefit Cosmetics

Benefit Cosmetics choose not to pay for traditional advertising, but rather rely on awesome collaboration projects, word of mouth and their genuinely great products to make a profit. Benefits latest collaboration took place this Summer, with the 'Luna Cinema.' Think the 'drive in' scene in Grease, but with all the perks of modern technology. Pretty cool stuff, right?
Benefit invited me along to a screening of my choice and a plus one of my choice. I chose my Mum, as she has always supported me and The Camera's Lying, and had yet to reap the benefits of it. We decided together to see '12 Years a Slave' set in the beautiful backdrop of Hampton Court Palace. Walking up towards the Palace to find the screen was atmospheric enough, combine that with the smell of hot dogs, a gorgeous sunset and the glowing 'luna cinema' orbs and you have a pretty good idea of how 'cool' the whole set up is.

'12 Years a Slave' stars some of the industry's biggest names and tells the true story of a free man, abducted and sold into slavery in 1841. It is shocking, sad and beautifully shot. Its one of those films you watch and then you need a moment or too afterwards to recollect yourself. Thoroughly recommend watching it, if you haven't already.

Luna Cinema has been showing some of the new 'must see' films and some of the old classics, such as 'Dirty Dancing' and 'Breakfast at Tiffany's.' They are set in a plethora of backdrops from parks, to castles and even an outdoor lido, where 'VIP' guests can watch the movie, floating in their own rubber dingy. They also set up all around the country.

Both my Mum and I had a great evening, and were, as always, well looked after by the lovely Benebabes. Thank you to benefit for inviting us along to the Luna Cinema, we had a fab night!

Outfit: Lady Vamp

When Fragrance Direct got in contact with me and asked if I'd like to take part in their 'Halloween Lookbook' project, I said yes, almost instantaneously. Halloween is one of my favourite traditions, I love the decor, the pumpkins, the horror films, the vampy colours- I love it all! Their brief was this- 5 bloggers would each be sent a different box of goodies from Fragrance Direct and a brief of a look to create. Mine was 'Lady Vamp.' Fragrance Direct challenged me to create a look based on the idea 'lady vamp,' but putting a more modern, glam twist on a Halloween classic.
Makeup*: Fragrance Direct
Top: H&M
Skirt: Urban Outfitters
Shoes: Topshop
Cocker: Claire's Accessories
I donned my Invogue eyelashes, and using my Technic Electric Beauty Smokey Eyes Kit, I created a vampy, dark eye look. To add a modern twist and a bit of glamour, I popped a bit of the W7 Perfect Eyes Pressed Pigment in 'Lovely Lilac' onto the outer third of my eye and under my lash line. L'Oreal's Whitening Foundation created a 'night owl' paled skin base and I finished the look off with Shimmery Red/Orange nail polish (Orly's Cherry Bomb) and Calvin Klein's CK Lipstick in 'Eros.'

If you'd like to see me unboxing my package from Fragrance Direct, you can see me do that in my 6th vlogtober video, here. If you like Autumn or vlogs or are just plain nosey, I suggest subscribing to my second channel as I'm vlogging everyday this month- yay!

Moroccanoil: Inspired By Women™

In the female based industry that is the fashion and beauty scene, women are rarely put up on a pedestal and focused on, for themselves, for their charity, for there good work rather than simply what they are wearing. When Moroccanoil got in contact with me about their new 'Inspired By Women' campaign, I was excited- one of my favourite brands taking a stand and celebrating the women behind just their cosmetics and fashion, they were already onto a winner.

Moroccanoil and the campaign feature 6 inspiring women with Rosie Huntington- Whiteley as the figurehead of the campaign and aim to empower women all around the world. At its core, the campaign features a short film series shot and directed by industry heavy weights. Each film shows a different inspiring woman (all pictured above) and details their story from the moment they had a game changing idea, to putting that idea into play and changing lives. I highly recommend you check out the videos, they are beautifully shot and feature some incredible women.
Moroccanoil sent me a few products to try out, a Shampoo and Conditioner from their 'Hydration' range, a Mousse to add volume and, finally, a hand cream. I may not have had my inspiring, life changing idea yet, but at least I am ready to face the day with good hair! Since using the products my bleached, dyed hair has been very grateful to me, drinking up the hydration with gusto. Moroccanoil is a brand I will always trust and go back to, time after time and I highly recommend you checking them out.

Guest Post: Alex Good's Autumn favourites

Hey guy's today's post is a guest post from the fabulous Alex of 'Beautyosauruslex' who will be talking to you about her Autumn favourites today. Before I hand you over to Alex, don't forget to check out my post on Alex's blog, and of course, all of Alex's other posts too, here!
Hello there!

I'm Alex, from Beautyosaurus Lex, and must say a massive thank you to Amy for letting me take over today! Today we are taking on some of my autumnal favorites, and to be perfectly honest this post is a bit biased, because autumn is my favorite season. Eek! I just cannot get enough. Be sure to take a look at Amy's favorites over on my blog!

Firstly my LL. Bean Boots, today these took me to class, around the city and even went through some dog poop. That's what makes these boots so incredible (no, not the dog poop). These take me through everything, get hosed off when needed and live to see another day, or year.

I couldn't write about autumn without talking about the leaves, oh the leaves. Without fail they change every year and always make me grin at their beauty and vibrance. I haven't even gotten to the crunchy factor either! Walking on crackly leaves makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Speaking of warm and fuzzy (y'like that smooth transition?) Dirty Chai lattes are my jam. It's a chai latte with a shot of espresso, If you like either of those things then give this an order next time.

Scarves make me swoon! There, I said it. You add a layer, some texture, a print or pattern and some often needed warmth, all by tossing on a scarf. Brilliant and need I say more?

Berry toned lips are quite possibly the easiest way to make yourself feel autumnal. MAC's Plumful is gorgeous, subtle and comfortable to wear. Another one of my favorites for fall is the Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in 005 Parisian Passion. As the name suggests it has a glossy finish but the lasting power of a stain.

As I write this it is currently an Indian summer, but once the weather turns you will find me wandering the streets and taking in every ounce of this incredible season, fueled by a dirty chai (or two).
